Grey is the new black for car buyers.
At this time of the year, everything seems to be grey coloured. The roads, the skies and now it seems the cars are too.
Over half a million new British drivers have bought a grey-coloured car in 2018. Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that just over one in five of the 2.4 million new cars purchased were painted grey.

Grey, black and white were the top three most popular colours, making up for 59% of the total amount of cars sold.

The grey paint obsession ranged across England, Wales and Northern Ireland but stopped at Scotland, where they opted for white painted motors instead.
Top 5 colours from 1997-2018
Cream suffered the biggest drop, with only 599 cars registered, which is down -34% compared to last year.
Yellow cars have also been hit with the same percentage drop, as fewer drivers attempt to brighten up the dull, grey roads.
