Elon Musk’s Tesla Roaster has completed its first orbit around the sun. The vehicle was launched by SpaceX on a Falcon Heavy Rocket on 6th February 2018 and needed a ‘dummy load’ to demonstrate its capability. CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk decided to include one of his own cars complete with a mannequin dubbed ‘Starman’ to sit in the driving seat during this epic voyage.
According to Where is Roadster, the electric-powered car is still moving through space at high-speed. At the time of writing this article, its current location is 185,532,710 miles from Earth, moving away from our planet towards Mars where it’s currently 69, 346,00 miles away from and travelling at a cool 25,825 mph.
Starman has travelled some 763 million miles since launch, which is enough to exceed the car’s 36,000-mile warranty about 21,188 times.
So there you have it. Starman is still happily travelling the galaxy in his convertible. As each day passes, the Tesla will continue to break records as the furthest car away from our planet. Any rivals fancy topping that?
